LEGAL ENTITY IDENTIFIERS
What is a Legal Entity Identifier (LEI)?
An LEI is a unique 20-digit alphanumeric code used to identify the entities in a financial transaction. This publicly-available information about your company becomes part of a global directory for worldwide transparency and helps to maintain the integrity of financial institutions.
More than 400,000 entities from 195 countries have a unique LEI, issued by Local Operating Units (LOUs) of the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF), a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland.
Obtain your LEI
If your entity is required to obtain an LEI, the COGENCY GLOBAL team can complete the entire registration process on your behalf on an expedited basis and navigate initial business validation with your Local Operating Unit. After filing, we’ll follow up as needed, until an LEI is assigned, typically within 3-5 days.
Need someone to keep track of your required annual information maintenance? We can do that too.
