Nonprofit ComplianceMany nonprofits will restrict or delay their fundraising plans due to concerns with state charitable solicitation registration requirements. There is a particular concern, even fear, relating to online fundraising, “donate now” buttons and their impact on the need for charities to register to solicit charitable donations. If this is a concern for your nonprofit, there are strategies and resources that you can employ to limit the number of states where your nonprofit needs to register.

Frequently, fearful executives are afraid to discuss this subject, due to their organization’s longstanding lack of compliance with state charitable solicitation statutes and the requirement to register in states where they are actively fundraising. However, after learning about the specific requirements, most are relieved to discover that this is not as daunting a task as they had imagined.

These, and related topics, are discussed by Ron Barrett, Vice President of Nonprofit Services at COGENCY GLOBAL INC., in the 101st podcast of Through the Noise. We invite you to listen to the podcast so you can gain helpful insights and learn about the upcoming release of a new digital resource, Nonprofit Fundraising Registration: Nolo’s 50-State Digital Guide, to assist charities with filing charitable registrations, renewals, extensions and exemptions.
